Slow and Steady

Gavin Lee

Since our swimming is has not been regular, my main goal is just to enjoy the moment and aim for a feel of the water. The following set is a good way for me to do just that…  with a little hypoxic training.  😉

10 rounds of the following, no rest between 50’s and 25’s, 1500 yards total

  • 50 easy pull with fins, easy distance/stroke, goal 9 strokes

  • 25 underwater flutter kick

  • 50 easy pull with fins, easy distance/stroke, goal 9 strokes

  • 25 underwater dolphin kick

Thank you to our friends Moira and Gail for the wonderful gift of a swim for 2!

First Day In A Pool

Gavin Lee

We have been out of the water since the beginning of Shelter In Place. Normally, we swim everyday. So, the last 7 months have been rough to say the least. However, today was glorious!

We were invited to use a private pool this afternoon. Not knowing what to expect, we were prepared to take a dip in a “backyard” pool. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it was sizable and in a beautiful location! Thank you so much Margaret!

As this was our first swim after all this time, we had no workout goals! We were there to enjoy the water and take it all in. We did manage a little stationary swim with the stretch cord and some vertical kick. This was a perfect way to begin to feel the water again. We came to a sad realization of how out of swimming shape we’re in, and how stiff we’ve become after months of dryland training only.

Although we currently do not know when or where our next swim will be, it will be wonderful! … L&G
