In order to become a contender these days, you’ve got to have an incredible underwater dolphin kick and streamline. I’m not even close to that league but I still try to be the best that I can. Here’s some great videos from The Race Club showing how it’s done with some tips… Butterfly with Roland Schoeman and UDK with Olympic Swimmer Marcus Schlesinger
We would like to thank Barry and Sue for our swims today!
Since our swimming is has not been regular, my main goal is just to enjoy the moment and aim for a feel of the water. The following set is a good way for me to do just that… with a little hypoxic training. 😉
10 rounds of the following, no rest between 50’s and 25’s, 1500 yards total
50 easy pull with fins, easy distance/stroke, goal 9 strokes
25 underwater flutter kick
50 easy pull with fins, easy distance/stroke, goal 9 strokes
25 underwater dolphin kick
Thank you to our friends Moira and Gail for the wonderful gift of a swim for 2!
Today we were gifted a lap swim lane at our local pool. Unfortunately, only one of us got to swim. Normally we swim together. But these are not normal times.
First and foremost I would like to thank Phyllis who got us this spot from her friends. Dan, I’m sorry you couldn’t make it today and hope you are well… we are very grateful for this gift! 🙏
Most importantly, I would like to express a very special thank you to Lauri for allowing me to partake in this swim instead of her. It is a double edged sword. As much as I love swimming, I am saddened to do this without her. Thank you so much Lauri! 💕

Kick with fins… that was the only goal today. Why? To help with flexibility in my feet and ankles as well as narrowing my streamline. After these many months without swimming, I’ve lost a lot of flexibility. So this is a very small step to regain some of what’s been lost and to reminder to stretch more often… especially now with dryland only workouts. Nothing beats swimming!
Till next time… G
